Rabbi Noam Marans, Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations for the American Jewish Committee (AJC), heads the agency’s national interfaith outreach and advocacy. A recognized leader of Catholic-Jewish dialogue, Rabbi Marans has also expanded AJC’s engagement with Muslims, Latino Evangelicals, and Latter-day Saints.
Recently, Rabbi Marans had a number of conversations with 39-year-old comedian, rapper, and television host Nick Cannon after he expressed some clearly antisemitic views. The rabbi’s conclusions from his contact with Cannon, and what he learned about antisemitism from the exchange, are in the article linked below.
Quote: “While he issued a series of apologies in his own unique style, Cannon dedicated a good part of the past month to learning more about Jews and Judaism. He understands why his words were blatantly antisemitic and has begun the process of undoing the damage he has caused. The same perch that was used for evil is now used for good.”
