Not surprisingly, the recent decision of the International Criminal Court to launch an investigation of Israel regarding alleged war crimes in the Palestinian territories brought forth a firestorm of criticism in the Jewish state. In addition to rejecting the jurisdiction of the ICC in the matter, Israeli leaders pointed out the hypocrisy of the probe and labeled it a blatant example of antisemitism and anti-Israelism.
Quote: “The decision of the [International Criminal Court] to open an investigation against Israel today for war crimes is absurd. It’s undiluted antisemitism and the height of hypocrisy. Without any jurisdiction, it decided that our brave soldiers, who take every precaution to avoid civilian casualties against the worst terrorists in the world, [terrorists] who deliberately target civilians… [the court thinks] it’s our soldiers who are war criminals!”
Note: For a cogent presentation of the Israeli point of view, we highly recommend watching the Naftali Bennet interview linked below.
