For the past 14 years, Muhammad Ahmad Hussein has been the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. During his tenure he has made many incendiary statements, including justifying Palestinian suicide bombings, claiming there never was a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount (called Haram al-Sharif by Muslims), and publicly quoting a Jew-hating hadith (sayings attributed to the Prophet Mohammed). He is opposed to compromise with Israel and any Jewish presence in “Palestine.”
Quote: “The site [Temple Mount or Haram al-Sharif], considered the third holiest in Sunni Islam and the holiest to Jews, according to the Grand Mufti, was a mosque ‘3,000 years ago, and 30,000 years ago’ and had been so ‘since the creation of the world.’ ” — Wikipedia
