Richard Spencer (born 1978) is president of the National Policy Institute, a white supremacist think tank. Spencer himself claims he’s not a neo-Nazi or white supremacist; he prefers to be called a “white nationalist” or “white identitarian.” Ironically, he also refers to himself as a “Zionist for white people.” (Apparently, Jews are not white in his view.) No matter what he claims, his speeches are full of white supremacist and neo-fascist tropes, with many people in attendance giving Nazi salutes.
Quote: “The ideal of a white ethno-state — and it is an ideal — is something that I think we should think about in the sense of what could come after America. It’s kind of like a grand goal…. It’s a way of thinking about [how] we want a new type of society that would actually be a homeland for all white people.”
