Of all the depraved and diabolical monsters — and there were many — who did horrific things during the Holocaust, the most depraved and diabolical was Dr. Josef Mengele, an SS officer and physician known as “The Angel of Death.” Mengele is mainly remembered for his actions at the Auschwitz II (Birkenau) concentration camp, where he performed deadly experiments on prisoners — including twin Jewish children — was a member of the team of doctors who selected victims to be killed in the gas chambers, and was one of the doctors who administered the gas.
