In AntisemitismExposed.org’s in-depth interview with Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, he said the following: “If lessons about brutal events in the past are important — and they are, in my opinion — they must be imparted from one generation to the next. With the general population, you’re probably having to start from zero with each generation.” Unfortunately, a recent survey of young Americans shows Holocaust educational efforts have not been very successful.
Quote: “It was the greatest crime of the 20th century, but Gen Z and millennial Americans remain hugely ignorant about the Holocaust. One in 10 young Americans believes that the Holocaust never happened, while almost a quarter — 23% — believe it is a myth or that the number of Jews who were killed has been exaggerated. Meanwhile, 12% of respondents say they have never heard or don’t think they’ve heard the word ‘Holocaust’ before.”
